I don't usually remark on rejections of short stories.
Except. This one says something.
They found the story pleasant.
However, there was no conflict to draw them in.
Well... Conflict wouldn't be pleasant.
And conflict will make me put a story own, not be interested in it.
What happens when an autistic author writes a story that is then read by a conflict seeking person.
We have enough conflict in the world.
I dream of less.

@UnCoveredMyths Ursula LeGuin, among many others, has pointed out that the idea, that a story must always be about conflict, is a cultural bias, that many cultures value genres of story that do not center on conflict.
I was puzzled by this idea, but I watched a movie, Showing Up, a story about an art student preparing for an exhibition, and the community around her. I could imagine describing it as a conflict, but it would seem forced. It's really just watching artists live and work.
