Assume systems will fail. Assume people will forget stuff. Assume things that are expected to happen, or be a certain way, will sometimes not happen or be different. Always have backups and workarounds ready.

Because otherwise you wind up with the kind of situation where you force someone with a badly injured knee that can barely hold any weight to hobble from the doorway of the mri room over to the machine with zero support. Causing, at best, severe pain. At worst, exacerbation of the injury. ffs.

@lindamciver hope the diagnostics pinpoint the problem and it heals okay - knees can be such jerks.

Exacerbating system/process failures are OHS rules which mean staff are not allowed to provide mechanical support in order to prevent the org from being sued. It’s more than ridiculous.

@Kymberly @lindamciver yes, I didn't ask the tech for help for exactly that reason. But I can't help feeling we have got a little carried away with the oh&s and liability stuff and have forgotten about patient care & basic compassion.
