So, I just opened up a #Dell from 2021, and it's got a #PCI slot. Not PCI Express (although it has those too), but a freaking old-school parallel PCI slot! On the same board as a M.2 #NVMe port and an 11th-gen Intel Core CPU! 🤯

…is PCI old-school? That doesn’t make any sense. PCI is the standard.

The original 32-bit parallel PCI bus slots disappeared from mainstream motherboards 10~15 years ago, so yes, I would call it old-school. Motherboards these days have only PCI Express and M.2 expansion slots.
Except this peculiar Dell one, apparently. I wonder what sort of device was intended to be plugged into it?

You and me both! I was there back when PCI was the new hotness and ISA cards were all over store shelves.
