A giant tree downhill from my house is being felled. The big, shaggy tree was home to a population of squirrels and birds, itself a beautiful sight in every season. But, it seems it was old and wasn’t healthy. And now it’s gone. I’m glad to have a picture.

I had a huge tree at the back of my garden with 4 distinct families of birds in it. We used to sit and have coffee outside and read the paper and listen to them. I was devastated when it had to be cut down.

@TheBreadmonkey It’s sooooo disheartening! It’s a neighbour’s tree, behind the garage, but we’ve enjoyed its beauty for 25 years now, only to see it being dismantled today. It’s possible that the house has changed ownership… or, in light of the LA wildfires the owners thought it was prudent to take it down. Or maybe their insurer was insistent that it be removed. Such a fucked up business.

@CoachMark ♥️ our fig tree, the big oak, the sycamores, and the newish row of unknown tree variety should provide some options. It just stinks to make everyone move all at once.
