A question that might be relevant to people displaced by #LAFires: if your house burns down, is it legal to park a trailer on your lot and live in it?

@14mission @akamran it would be horrible has that air and ground will be a toxic stew for months. It’s also unlikely that the property is zoned for a mobile home but living in an RV might be possible.

@Codhisattva @akamran Living in these circumstances would not be great.
But alternatives could be bad too. Like having to rent while still owning an empty lot, or leaving the area entirely. Either of these would probably mean having to sell the burnt lot your home used to be on and probably taking a huge financial loss.
Despite the health risks and other issues, parking a camper on your driveway and staying put might be the best option for a lot of people.
It's a terrible choice to have to make but if people want to do that I think they should have the option. And if people do that, it's a way the original community is more likely to come back, instead of everything being bulldozed for mcmansions and gentrified.

@14mission @akamran is cancer worth it?

@Codhisattva @14mission it might be, for some people. A) going to die of something, B) taking a stand against private equity buying all the property, and C) stronger, more resilient (and thus healthier and wealthier) as a community.
