🚨 Excited to officially announce I'm writing a new newsletter for @STAT!
AI Prognosis starts Feb 12. It's all about #AI in #healthcare, #medicine & #biotech.
(If you sign up before Jan 20, you'll get the first 4 issues free, even if you don't have STAT+!)

This newsletter won't aggregate stories (though I'll be sharing plenty of links) but is designed to interpret and give you exclusive insight into what's going on in #health AI.
If you've been forced to pay attention to AI because of your job, or you simply exist in the healthcare system and don't know anything about AI but want to, this is for you.

I started writing about #AI at STAT two years ago, when we were all trying to figure out what the heck #ChatGPT meant for medicine (throwback below).
Before that, I got a PhD in chemistry, and before that, I was a kid who always asked "why?" (I am now an adult who asks "why?" too often)

I'll be bringing that scrutinizing lens to our journey as we learn about #artificialintelligence together, whether that's learning how AI models work; questioning claims, benefits, and harms; or interpreting business moves.
Ask me your burning #AI in #health questions on the signup page, and tell your friends!

@brittanytrang
So I signed up for your newsletter but didn't see the questions form.
My burning AI healthcare question is about providers' behavior. Are they actually paying attention to the TOS and privacy policies of the tools they are starting to use?
Eg the privacy policy of Open Evidence, which is admirably clear and very invasive.
Or OpenAI's usage policy requiring that tailored medical advice be reviewed by a professional and that the use and limitations of AI be disclosed

@brittanytrang
Are HCP AI users aware of these details? Are they holding up their side of the bargain?

@brittanytrang @STAT Are you going to write about actual AI or just the use of computer programs doing data analysis?

@brittanytrang I signed up, but I really wish there was no need for this newsletter. I think generative AI has absolutely no place in medicine (or anywhere). OK, maybe there's some other form of AI that's useful for purposes other than making insurance companies more money as they deny treatment and claims. Maybe.
