TIL “Act of God” is a perfectly normal legalese in the English-speaking world.

As a Frenchman, I find this surprising and mildly irritating.

For clarity, I have nothing against religion. We just keep the church and the state very separated in France (although sometimes secularism is corrupted to justify Islamophobic regulation).

@thibaultamartin as a native english speaker, i've felt this terminology is completely insane since childhood, fwiw. i'm amazed it's never been replaced. (at least here in canada.)
