People throwing 102,343 plush toys onto an ice rink for 20 minutes. The plushies will be distributed across local charities, but... 100K of them? Seems wasteful. At an estimated 20$ per toy, that would be over 2 million worth of toys. Or do people throw pre-owned plushies? Do charities accept donations of used plus toys? They would have to wash them before distribution for hygiene reasons, don't they? Or I am overthinking this and need to lighten up?

@chris
I have so many questions. 😅

@chris This is the case with most charity tbh. Giving a food bank $20 is vastly superior to giving them $20 worth of canned goods you bought yourself. People just prefer tangible donations. However yes charities do accept used plushies and many charity shops for eg have industrial washing machines. This seems to be run by a charitable arm of Hershey chocolate, so they probably do flashy stuff to raise attention to their brand more than actually help, but they prob also got cash donations.
