It's all the more grosser because Mass MoCA is The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. They're massive / a big and well funded museum who's hosted exhibits by some very big names.

No... but TBH not surprised given various people I've met who curate stuff there, plus the nature of the artists they sometimes work with. I can see them having talked to artists who are somehow OK with AI because it doesn't affect their bottom line.

Unfortunately, it seems there's a not insignificant portion of folks out there who are either ignorant of issues around "AI"-generated "art", or sadly, are so enamored with the idea that they ignore/dismiss those concerns.

@artcollisions @Geojoek Yeah. Knowing Mass MOCA's budget (tight, focused on art), I suspect this is a sponsored event that will serve as a marketing tool for the AI company. Mass MOCA is an amazing org and museum... I hope they realize this is a mistake and don't do another one.

I'd be surprised if they aren't getting a ton of pushback.

I love art museums and I go to there regularly, but they've engendered a fair bit of skepticism out here: they have chosen to be pretty shitty to local towns and orgs at various times, and I've had conversations with employees that bely some icky attitudes towards us. And while it's up for debate as to whether they're the actual driver of it, they've been a major player in the NYC gentrification of the area.
