People in California are losing everything and half the left is posting about Gaza being the reason California is on fire and lying about Karen Bass and half the right is posting about DEI firewomen and racist bullshit and also lying about Karen Bass. You all know you both look like fucking assholes, right?

Also, there’s no water department prepared for the whole area burning at one time.

@Leefellerguy Shes really not. She’s expecting the same from her as anyone else. AOC doesn’t write bills that can pass, doesn’t work well with most Dems, instead she attacks them in the media. Those two things alone are enough to keep her from being a viable candidate. She’s quite notable because she does non productive provocative even destructive things like continuing to dampen Dem support in Fla by using the Defund the Police slogan even after Obama asked Progs to stop. @timo21 @TonyStark

@Pineywoozle @Leefellerguy @timo21 @TonyStark there are politicians that do well within their own party and don’t resonate with the electorate.

And there are politicians that resonate with the electorate that get less support from their own party.

Democrats would do well to look at how AOC is seen by the electorate and consider how they can best work with her to win the next election.

Better to get behind a convincing leader and win than to elect another yes-man like Biden and lose. (Again)

@Leefellerguy But in essence she does. Cenk took big $ from Rs & was one of the founders of the JDs. They tried to scrub him from their history when people pointed out what a bad actor he is. Not to mention that BS admitted twice on vid, that Ru was (& is) spending $ to propagandize the #farL to divide Dems. A huge Bernie 2020 group was exposed as a bot farm in Macedonia, still, No Prog warned a single supporter, she's parroted (then erased) Ru talking points & she tried to oust Pelosi on day 1

@Leefellerguy Bernie getting “big” crowds doesn’t change that there is & was major support for the far far farL coming from Russia as well as propaganda to divide Dems. Those Ru bot boosts that AOC knows she’s getting? Those are bribes. Bernie admitted it was happening (x2) but instead of warning supporters, did almost nothing. Many progressive supporters deny it, till I show them his clips. The Muller Report detailed it, Clint Watts testified to Congress. Crickets from the #farL pols #USPol

Newsom will lose a presidential run. He's proven himself spineless and unprincipaled. Even if that's what you like in a president, it's critical that you understand corporate right-wingers like him are unelectable in a general.

Him being a corporate lick spittle is why he is, broadly speaking, part of the climate problem. Capitalism is killing our planet and he is part of the machine that reinforces corporate money in our politics, keeping the status quo in effect.

To those who are trying to unload blame on everyone else:

You're right! It should be simple to whup vast conflagrations. We just need enormous desalination plants to provide water; maybe a plant the size of LAX, every 50 miles or so along the coast? And pumps -- giant ones, and electricity, maybe 10 times the current electric grid? Water mains 3 feet in diameter on every street...

So the question you should ask is, "Am I willing to pay $6,000 a month for my household water?"

Fire protection water. If you are buying a house where it is dry and you see the hydrant, that's not the whole story. Fire protection water can supply water for one or two housefires at once, maybe three. After that, there is no fire protection. It's for a fire where the kitchen catches fire in a house, not for a fire coming over the ridge for all of the neighborhood.

So scale your expectations and plan accordingly.

I don't think Gaza is the reason California is burning. I think it's probably because millions of idiots built houses where there is no water and wild fires are common.

I do think the USA could afford to take better care of its natural disasters and build better infrastructure if they weren't funding a genocide with billions of dollars of their tax payers' money.

I know Southern California gets shit for yearly rainfall and it pipes most of its water in from Northern California. I also know that trees in a place with a lot of rain don't burn as fast or as hot as dry trees. It isn't rocket surgery.

@The_Caretaker @Sable_Shade Rocket surgery isn’t a thing.

Anyway, there’s no water management available that will combat an entire city on fire. As far as the rest, two very wet winters led to lots of vegetation growth followed by a warm summer. Very little rain in January created lots of fuel plus the incredibly strong Santa Ana winds are the main reasons for these fires being able to grow so quickly and hot. Blame climate change but nobody is immune from that. A wet area has its own issues.
