I've started reading 1984 by George Orwell again. The last time I read it, I was in high school. There was no internet and very few people had a computer. A cellular phone was as big as a Subway foot-long sandwich and weighed as much as a brick. Almost no one had a cellular phone.

Reading it with our current state of technology is unnerving.

It's happening outside the USA too. Australia is reporting that Meta accounts are automatically following Trump and JD Vance. When users unfollow, they come back later and find they are following Trump and Vance again.

My daughter uses Instagram. She has had to unfollow JD Vance, three times. She has never followed him. The app is automatically making users follow certain users. This goes beyond just censorship, they are forcing people to see information or influencers they don't want.

The US -Canadian border is easy to cross, for now. Tariffs are going to cause an increase in smuggling of goods in both directions. Fascism is going to cause many people to flee the USA and many Americans don't have a passport. Illegal crossings will rise dramatically. Border security will increase. Thanks to Red Note, I found out that in China, people can afford to buy their own homes. Not only that, the tax they pay on a residence is very small and only gets paid once when they buy the place and then every 70 years. The county government doesn't tax them yearly and steal their home if they can't pay up, like it does in America. America is a third world kleptocracy run by robber barons.
