As I am not facile with github, does anyone know if there is a request logged to add an embed option to the drop down list of options for managing/sharing a toot?

Not being able to easily embed toots limits (eliminates?) the use of Mastodon as a source for stories on media websites like DailyKos.com.

Edit: I'm also not sure where is the timeline for planned changes in #Mastodon but here is an issue for adding quote posting: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i...

No, not quoting here. It's to generate a code snippet to drop into an HTML page to display the toot as a linkable image in a web page.

This is what news websites use when they want to reference something of interest/import from a social media platform.

No embed code, no reference to Mastodon toots on left leaning news websites.

There's a whole lot of passive Mastodon marketing getting lost by the lack of this functionality.

Press the ... menu, then "get embed code"

Personally I'd never use it and prefer a screenshot, to avoid issues if the instance goes away or toot is edited, but it's there.

Do you mean you need it in the mobile app or something? Never used that. Dunno if it is there in the app, but it's here on the website.

OK, I feel stupid now... I was on my phone when this hit me and I looked at both the official app and Tusky and didn't see it. It definitely is there on the official desktop/web interface.

Certainly would be good to get it added to the apps as well.
