Today's dinner-cooking #music:
"My I'm Large" by The Bobs
I love these guys so much! Back in the early 90s I heard them on the radio while traveling, then when I got home I found information on a new-fangled thing called the "world wide web" about how to order their CDs. We mailed off a check ("Please find enclosed...") and ordered their first four albums.
We listened to these CDs (and others bought as they came out) continuously through the rest of the 20th century.

@catselbow This is fun! When I was a young person, my sister and I would listen to Manhattan Transfer (another a capella group) and sing together. I'll have to send her this playlist.

Yes! They're so great. Many of the songs with silly titles were made up while they were on stage, based on title suggestions from the audience. And their covers of classic songs are beautiful.

@catselbow FEE FI FO FUM!
Yay! I got to see them in concert a couple of times, and subsequently inflicted the tunes on our kids. "I've got my helmet on..." was good for learning to ride a bike!

We saw them live a couple of times too. Once at Wolf Trap in northern VA and once at the Blackfriars Theater in Staunton VA.

@catselbow I love The Bobs! Some choir friends and I formed a very rudimentary a capella group after high school (circa 1988 if I remember right). We did a few open mike nights, and roadtripped to a Bobs concert in Massachusetts, where we sang their version of Psycho Killer back at them after their show, and probably made them feel a little uncomfortable, although they were very good-natured about it.

Ha! At least you didn't sing their version of Helter Skelter.
