Let's see. The median population of US states in the first census after they joined the union was 193k people, the geometric mean was 195k people.

Canada could reasonably claim to be cut into about 200 states (first-order approximation), should they join the USA.

@jbqueru my favourite bit - if Canada joins the US, and the 10 provides become states, that's 20 new senators from largely liberal states. The long standing Republican advantage in Senate and electoral college gone in one go.

Not gonna happen, but Canada could save the US from Americans.
