@andrewharvey oh shi… 😏

@benschwarz looks great. I'm not sure if I'm being thick, but I can't find any pricing info. It says 15 day free trial, but no indication if what it'll cost after that.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from Edent@mastodon.social
@Edent the free tool is 100% free.
The paid product starts at $75 USD/month (also available in EUR and AUD), it has has scheduled monitoring checks, budgets and alerting

@Edent thanks for checking it out, you’re definitely not thick, I just decided to make the free path feel properly free of distractions 🤗

@benschwarz TBH not showing the price is an immediate turn off for me (and I suspect many others).
If you're not willing to show the price it signals to me that I either have to deal with a sales-guy (ugh) or that you're hoping to trick me.
Perhaps I'm not your target audience, but I'd recommend having a pricing page somewhere before sign up.
Pricing isn't a distraction - it is a key signal.

@Edent that’s fair! There’s a pricing page at /pricing, and more prominent on the “website”, but it isn’t included on the test tool report page.
Might have a rethink on that, thanks for your thoughts 🙇♂️

@benschwarz looks like LCP doesn't like my Ken Burns animations… 😞

=> More informations about this toot | More toots from nhoizey
@nhoizey yeah! Animation on LCP elements is often problematic. I’d love to see the assessment get an update to factor the first frame of an animated element… but of course there’s so much subtlety to get it right
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from benschwarz@front-end.social
@benschwarz I understand why it’s not easy, indeed.
I'll try adding a delay before the animation starts, and test in Chrome the reported LCP.

@benschwarz Any plans for making it narrow viewport friendly? 🙂
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from saji@mastodon.social
@saji yes! I recently landed dark mode and patched up a few UI inconsistencies, fixing nav/mobile is definitely on my list too.
I rushed to finish this project before Christmas and ran outta time. However, I do love to continually chip away at improvements, so leave it with me 🙇♂️

@benschwarz awesome to hear

@benschwarz @gergely meh. There is a calibre app for different purposes a thousand years ago… it is so hard to make a search before naming a new service?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from zilahu@mastodon.laca.dev
@zilahu @gergely been running this company since 2017 and it’s never been a problem apart from people like yourself 😊 in actuality it’s fine.
There’s lots of companies sharing the same name. Have a nice day!

@benschwarz I'm sure this is a "me" problem and not anything against Calibre, but when I plug in https://haritography.com, it reports a 405 Method not allowed error. The same URL seems to work fine with GTMetrix and Google PageSpeed Insights, so I'm not sure what's different with your tool? I picked Sydney AU as the server location, which is the same city as where my site is hosted (on a VPS).
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from georgeharito@mastodon.au
@georgeharito Prior to running the test, Calibre does a HEAD
request to confirm the website is up and that the URL is free of redirects etc.
Based on what you've said, it seems like the HEAD
request is being denied (or simply not handled by your server), and the 405 is returned. Because there's an error, you get blocked from running the tool.
At least, that's what I think might be happening based on what you've said!
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from benschwarz@front-end.social
@benschwarz Awesome, you were spot on. I only had GET and POST as allowed HTTP methods in my site config. I've added HEAD and it seems to be testing OK now. Thanks for the quick reply!

@georgeharito thanks for letting me know! Always good to understand frustrations/issues I can document or fix
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from benschwarz@front-end.social
@benschwarz I've tried a few URLs. All are failing currently. Just FYI.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from cdevroe@mastodon.social
@cdevroe when you say failing, do you mean the test won’t start and an error is reported, or the test runs and fails? (Feel free to dm your URL)
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from benschwarz@front-end.social
@benschwarz It simply says "Application error occurred”. I've tried about 5 or 6 different URLs just to see if it was related to the domains I was trying.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from cdevroe@mastodon.social
@cdevroe Not sure what happened there, but I am happy to report your personal page is looking pretty quick 💨

A couple notes on your page:
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from benschwarz@front-end.social
@cdevroe …Of course the page is fast and 100% ok as-is, just thought I'd share some potential optimisations I saw straight away 🙇
Thanks again for your report Colin, really appreciated.
