TIL: Apple use Storybook to document the MusicKit API.

As part of MusicKit, there are Web Components that you can use in your page to display album artwork, or even embed a player.

“iTS a MaRkUP laNguAGE, it’s in the name”, they say.

Yeah sure, but it was called a markup language in 1993 when it didn’t DO anything interactive whatsoever. There weren’t even images in HTML initially.

Checking in on today’s pathetic web culture war: Is HTML programming???

Get out of the way you pedantic nerds. It’s programming, it doesn’t matter.

Build something great for people, that matters.

Run PostgreSQL in Github Actions for tests?

Clever bmizerany released https://github.com/bmizerany/setup-postgres, which uses binary/embedded PG.

Startup time is <3s 💨

In my case it saved 30s per parallellised build step, or around 10 minutes (total) per build. 🍃

Spotify decided to cut access to APIs that could be used to create recommendations, generative playlists and audio analysis.

A lot of that data originally came from the echo nest, a company Spotify bought in 2014.

Now that data is locked in Spotify forever

In the lead up to EOY/Christmas @fox & I created a fundraiser for Food Bank Victoria, an org that feeds 69K people each day.

A $10 donation provides a meal to someone who needs a warm heart and full belly.

If you can help with a donation ($10 is totally acceptable!), please do.

One for the ruby folks:

good_job or solid_queue?

Use case is a queue that’ll work a few hundred thousand records per day, wanting to be able to set concurrency limits per job, fully supportive of all active job features

Good job seems to have a better console & no basecamp affiliation, so on paper maybe it’s the one to try next?
