I realize now, 2.5 workdays into the year, that I'm already completely overstimulated by work. This is not sustainable. I've already been through a major burnout and depression episode two years ago, and I recognize the warning signals.
I'm not sure what to do, though. I've already reduced work hours, but the problem is one of work density, not duration.
The only thing that I can think of would be stepping down as teamlead, effectively ruining my career.

@actuallyautistic I should probably improve my task priorisation and organisation, because a lot of the overwhelm comes from deciding what to do next when everyone pulls me into different directions. Thing is, executive functioning is not my best strength.

@actuallyautistic Delegating tasks might help, but that actually increases the need to communicate, which is the second biggest stressor.

@lizzard YES, this. It's something many people don't get: doing stuff might be immensely stressful, but so are deviation from a routine and communicating needs. It's a trade-off and sometimes a lose-lose situation.

@quidcumque it's even not the actual doing of stuff at all (as in working on things in my own) that is stressing me out. It's prioritizing and communication over a thousand different channels and formats with just as many people. And family communication and organization on top of it, with another thousand different channels and people.

@lizzard @actuallyautistic if you figure it out let me know, honestly. I am pretty good at hard boundaries ("Sorry I don't work Wednesdays") but struggling with soft boundaries ("sorry three back-to-back half hour calls on different topics is not going to work for me")
I like team lead work, but I thrive on days with fewer long tasks and what I get is seven half-hour calls in a day...
Of course the tools aren't capable of supporting me in these softer boundaries either.
