@glennf Yes, I think we’re safe. We’re not in an evacuation zone, but the areas under evacuation are not far away from us so I’m keeping an eye on it. Hopefully as the winds die down today these fires can get under control.

@joesteel Whew. What a madness this all is. I hope people are being kind. I'm seeing even left-wing “well, they live in California" stuff (limited). But none of us is magically in the right place (cf., North Carolina).

We live near an active volcano, and there's no true plan for what happens if a regular event, overdue, were to occur.

@glennf I haven’t seen anyone say anything like that, but I have also been busy and haven’t sought it out. I was just helping my mom with flood insurance paperwork for the hurricane that flooded her house. A major hurricane hadn’t hit the Tampa Bay Area since 1921. The homes and businesses burning right now aren’t in some normal, annual burn region. No one can perfectly plan to live in complete safety. It’s a shame people would put energy into blaming victims.
