Just deleted permanently deleted Facebook and Threads accounts. On the fence about Instagram at the moment since I don’t make Facebook money there.

Will new tariffs doom my books to languish in a (very clean, well-lit, and well-run) warehouse in Vancouver, B.C.? You can help…if you would like a discount on my latest book, which was printed and is fulfilled from Canada! 🇨🇦

As I think about DS9, it seems like the entire setup of the show is that the Prophets knew they would need a defender against the Pah-Wraiths, so they just used time and space to create one. (And, unlike most Chosen Ones, they had a plan that he would just become one of them instead of being discarded.)
Doesn’t that make Jake 1/4 Prophet? Was that NEVER discussed? Does that explain the episode in which he changes 70 years of history?

Why OCANADA? The book was printed and is warehoused in Canada, and I have no idea (nor does anyone else) if it will be subject to tariffs in a couple of weeks for sales or shipping into the United States! So enjoy the 10% off sale wherever you are!

Pleased as punch to congratulate @indexing for winning the American Society of Indexing’s 2024 Indexing Award in the trade (general market) book category for @mwichary’s Shift Happens! https://www.asindexing.org/news/2024-indexing-awards-winners/
I’ve worked with Jan for decades and made the introduction (I edited and project-managed Shift Happens), but they made the magic together. Congratulations!
(Jan also built the index for How Comics Were Made.)

I’ve put up for sale the rare “Sparky”-signed copy (to his hockey pal Mike) of “Snoopy and ‘It Was a Dark and Stormy Night’” on my website. I’ve posted pictures of the inscription and of the book’s condition. I used auction sites with completed sales to price it. https://glog.glennf.com/hcwm-store/inscribed-snoopy-and-it-was-a-dark-and-stormy-night-signed-as-sparky

An unfortunate semi-secret of the aviation world is that no control tower has ever talked a non-pilot through landing a craft successfully. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/650464/can-passenger-be-talked-through-landing-plane-emergency
Many people apparently think at least mainline planes have pushbutton takeoff/landing operations and auto-pilot functions that are effectively magical.

Accidentally purchased a personally inscribed first-edition Charles Schulz book. This was via an online bookstore that I guess didn’t recognize the “Sparky” signature. Schulz seemingly signed his full name to people he didn’t know and Sparky—the nickname given to him at just days old—to friends.
