Oh, I'm pleased to say it's not people here. More me shouting into the void at Global Fuckwits. The balance of my timeline is just a bit out of whack at the moment and I'm being a bit persistently reminded about Things That Are Terrible.
Absolutely not a pop at people posting about it/them either. Sometimes you need to vent. It's just I like here as a bit of an escape and I've got a bit more depressed at each log in the last couple of days.

@eclectech Oh, I kinda assumed you meant Space Karen, Zuckwit et al. It's harder to ignore because I honestly think there's more of it than there was even a couple of months ago. I drastically reduced my news input then, but the benefit I've got from it is plateauing because of waves hand in general direction of everything.
That's why I hardly post about it any more myself (which isn't me having a pop at people who do either). Thank the gods for filters.

@fkamiah17 Yeah, that is it, they have totally overwhelmed my feed the last couple of days and I'm usually quite light on the filters but will put some back on and mute some hashtags to try and rebalance it all a bit.

I also feel like I should know what is going on in the world so I can have the worries and the informed discussions.
But also I just want it all to go away as it is too much to take in, and especially when it also feels like there is nothing we can do at all to affect it.
But it would also be bad to hide away and pretend it isn't happening.

@Maker_of_Things Yes, absolutely this. I don't want to bury my head in the sand, but also don't want to be buried by the awfulness. It is such a difficult balance.
My timeline here has generally been quite good. I think it's a temporary blip and it will settle again, but muting a few words / hashtags for a while should help in the short term.

I have been graually reducing down the number of lists I actiely look at.
Many of the actively political folks are on one list, I don't look anymore unless I am really bored.
I look less at my list of makers, just scrolling quickly through as I scan for actual maker toots.
I tend to focus on my friends list and notifications now, as it is queter.
I don't even look at the wider Fediverse anymore.
