are people actually still use RSS or is it better to push each post to mastodon/bsky to get some reach? probably both I guess.

@polarity I think on Mastodon a lot of people use, or are coming back to using, RSS. In general I think doing both is still the best approach though

@polarity Last year, I started decentralizing many of the Internet services I use and also installed an RSS reader on my Homelab. A lot of content gets lost on Mastodon, which is why I only use it for short entertainment in between. Blogs are coming back in my opinion and RSS is my tool of choice to stay informed.

@polarity That is the spirit of the times! With the purchase of Twitter and the associated disintegration, the result will be that people will trust monopolies less and reclaim power over their own data. At least that's my hope for the future. :-)

@polarity I lean on social media like mastodon to discover, and I use RSS to remind me of what I’ve found.

@polarity I use RSS (started again sometime last year I think). I subscribed to your feed as well but in this specific case I think I get the news on several different channels before my reader does anyway 😅

@polarity I only consume news from sites with rss. Mastodon not, since I can talk back ;-)

@polarity About twice every week I look into my RSS reader. But it only shows me new postings in blogs I'm already subscribed to.
On Mastodon I follow Hashtags, and find postings about topics I'm interested in, and I don't have to follow the author. Also if you don't use Hashtags, I likely won't see your posting.
