I just helped my neighbours to transport their old fridge to the recycling depot.

It didn't fit in their station wagon. We used my bike trailer instead.

Something that I've always kind of known but it gets more and more apparent: I have to try things to know if they work or if I like them. I can think about stuff all day and convince myself that it'll be great but once it is done and actually there, it's a whole different story.

It's the same with the stuff I build (1 finger scroll touchpad being a dud for example), with games that I like, home decoration, pizza toppings…

Also bei Essen bin ich deutlich versnobter als bei Fahrrädern. Stahl-Ara und Aluminium-Ara würde ich nicht mal probieren.

CSS question: How do y'all do hyphenation these days? Probably mostly relevant to the German folks ;-)

With hyphens:auto, words still break at terrible points in my browsers and I can't find any ways to make it more restrained.

I think my solution would be to use overflow-wrap:break-word in CSS and then rewrite with JS to remove that and wrap long words with more than X characters in hyphens:auto spans. That has a very 2010 feel to it though and I wonder if there is a better CSS-only solution.

PSA: Removing devices from your iCloud account doesn't seem to work in Firefox, even though they are removed from the list and there is no error message. The process in Safari looks a bit different with an additional popup and some explanations and then it actually works, too.

(I'm not 100% sure on this but something like 80%)

I have been thinking about the macOS media keys recently because they were great and useful when they controlled just iTunes.

Just today the universe answered my own thoughts with the perfect example: I pressed the play key to resume playback of my background music and heard the Slack notification sound instead.

I've been monitoring my power usage a lot more closely since I got the balcony solar setup.

It's astounding how big the difference between seasons is. Most days I'm getting basically nothing from the solar and on good days it is maybe a quarter of a regular day in summer.

Plus the consumption is going up a lot. I didn't realize just how many more hot drinks I'm drinking plus more layers of clothing also means more washing.

I've also finally made the decision to go back to cow's milk, at least for the cold months, because tea with plant based milk doesn't work for me and coffee only works with larger amounts of milk.

I'm not happy about it.

I've been neglecting my knife sharpening routine. Just sharpened my kitchen knife and it is soooo much better.

Honing sucks, I don't do it. I'd say get a Lansky system instead.

I'll be spending some time looking at 3d printed options now.
