I have no idea how to link it, but searching for "VEB GRAFISCHER GROSSBETRIEB VÖLKERFREUNDSCHAFT DRESDEN" seems to bring them all up

@nkizz Could be for networking? I think I can make out "drum transfer" on one of them, I'm guessing you could dial up machines in other parts of the building?

@BestGirlGrace that would be the greatest LAN of all time. They would all need some kind of line voltage induced though...

@nkizz I'd wager it's a manual patchboard*. Since this was before we became chronically online, a computer only needed to scream at another one on occasion, and so I guess it would make sense to have a way to wire it to a phone line that was easier than messing with cables manually behind each computer, but that didn't demand the complexity of a pbx.

correction: *patchboard is the word I had in mind

@nkizz I love the kiddie lock on the Macintosh II floppy drive :) We won’t have no ‘sneaker net’ in this office thank you. You will use LocalTalk and like it. @Cdespinosa

@nkizz

Those square bricks on the wall look like standard RJ-11 POTS demarcation terminals that were ubiquitous, including singly in a house.

@nkizz They’re RJ something, I don’t know how you can tell from the photo they’re not RJ11. It looks like they have splitters plugged into some of them?
