Did I actually want to find out macOS’s tabbed interface extended to Crash Reports?
No…no, I did not.

I might be settling on:
afp:/at/WOzFest HQ Server:WOzFest HQ/WOzFest HQ Files/
even though that’s later than the vintage of AIR - it will have to be human-read, or used on a Mac OS X client (it works in Mac OS X v10.3).

[#]GlobalTalk chatter: PATHWORKS for Macintosh/AppleTalk for VMS
Anyone going to get a GlobalTalk node up on this...

[#]GlobalTalk chatter: what’s the AppleTalk equivalent of URLs?
On the Internet, we can use URLs like
ftp://user:password@server.example.com/path/toshare
to describe the location and type of a resource.
What’s the AppleTalk standard style for addressing, say, folder x, in folder y, in share z, on server a, in zone b, over protocol c?
user i and password j optional.
Old school style guides may need to be consulted.
Was there a standard? I have vague memories there was, google-fu failing.

4 weeks to go till #MARCHintosh!
I've finished a rough draft of my AIR manual addendum about #GlobalTalk, so a 1 March release, alongside uploading a scan of the original manual, is certainly achievable.
Still have lots to do around checking the a tech details in the chapter, creating screenshots, and defining lots of paragraph styles to match the manual.
Then, during March, I’ll experiment with a few #GlobalTalk/AppleTalk matters with a second virtual Q800, hopefully on a separate network.

[#]GlobalTalk admins – do you have an unusual setup?
I’m speaking specifically about the network architecture/configuration. Things like (but not limited to):
• Hardware AppleTalk routers
• Multiple hardware segments
• Emulated AIR hosts
• TashTalks and TashRouters
• CGNAT internet connections
• BlueSCSI (and other HD emulators)
• WiFi segments (or AIR running over WiFi)
Please send me a short description of what you’ve set up – I’d like to document some of these in my AIR manual addendum!

I’ve chosen to use a Google doc as admins already have provided a Google Account for the coordinating Google Sheet.
Basic scan of the AIR manual is available for chapter reviewers, and I’ve converted the Word doc to a Google Doc and finished most sections for the chapter.
1 March release date seems likely now.

I’ll figure out the best access method after I choose my collaborators.
It’s currently a Word document, but it could be a Google doc, or whatever.
If you have any or all of the following, please let me know:
[ ] Office 365
[ ] Google account (don’t think it has to be paid)
[ ] iCloud account
I need something that supports paragraph styles, and I don’t want to edit in MarkDown, so I think I’ll limit to one of the above.

Do you fit either of those profiles? Please DM me or reply here.
I discuss general networking terms and concepts as well as GlobalTalk-specific ones.
I try to keep things conversational.
It won’t be a tutorial on, for example, bridged networking setup for QEMU (though it mentions that, and what that actually means, and maybe some resources).
I won’t guarantee I’ll take in your suggested changes, but I would like others to cast an eye over before release (hoping to make it by 1 March).

[#]GlobalTalk admins: technical review request!
I am currently working on the AIR 3.0 manual’s “Chapter 11”, GlobalTalk.
It’s not a deep dive into the arcana of setups, so there’s still lots to discover after reading it, but I am making it wide in its scope.
Which means I’ll get things wrong. Or miss things. Or not mention someone’s resource.
I’m after a few technically-minded AIR admins to help me get as much right as possible, and a few more “casual” admins to help with accessibility.

[#]GlobalTalk tech update – I’ve changed my network number to 6502, should have done that in the first place.
And a reminder, you can use a range of x-x and still connect 253 local devices – you don’t need a network number for each device.
While we’re unlikely to run out of network numbers, “claiming” a single network number will mean others will have a better chance of being able to choose a network number which is meaningful to them.
Remember...
“Be kind, one network number assigned!"

Interviewer: So, you're a prompt engineer?
Applicant: Yes, I’ve been a prompt engineer for, oh, I guess 5 years now. It’s really satisfying.
Interviewer: We can certainly see a prompt engineer fitting right into our group and rounding out our offerings. When can you start asking AI to create value for the company?
Applicant: Oh, let me ask ChatGPT and I’ll get right back to you!

[#]FujiNet Question time for @tschak
Note sure which channel to ask this on the Discord, so I’ll ask here initially.
The use of the SD card filesystem for CP/M makes me wonder if a similar ability can be made available (or is) to the host system/s?
This could be a method of importing files into the host system without needing to place them in a disk image or via access to a server.
I’ve barely even thought of any “security” issues, let alone what might need to be designed/changed to allow it.

Some time ago, probably around the time I left Twitter, I obfuscated terms like “Twitter”, “Musk”, and “Trump”.
It was brought to my attention that, for example, “Tr*mp” prevented people from effectively filtering “Trump”.
So I stopped doing that. You should, too, if you’re still doing such obfuscations.
Don’t disable others’ ability to choose the terms they filter.
Using such obfuscations does not deprive the “target” of any attention, but does deprive other users of the power of filtering.

@smallsco @billgoats Huh...IE 5.2 in Mac OS X v10.3.9 doesn’t like the WebOne root identity certificate, either.

WebOne seems to be doing a good job. Can’t install the root cert in I.E. 5.1.7 (or 5.0) for Classic Mac OS, but it’s stripping SSL, so that’s OK for me.
Good enough for my irregular use.
Thanks again to @smallsco and @billgoats for the suggestion!
