It’s not that I think we’ll hear about #Switch2 in January. It would line up with a few historical big announcements, but it’s really that I want to hear about it in January.
My hope is for an early Spring release, and I don’t logistically see that happening for a console with less than 2 months lead time for retailers.
It’s one thing to see all of these accessory manufacturer leaks, but I haven’t seen any retailer leaks yet. That’s starting to make an early Spring launch seem less likely.

Well well well, maybe the retailer leaks are starting after all. Could early Spring still be on the table?

@OffTheBooks I genuinely don't remember if we had retailer leaks for Switch, but it was years ago after all.
I'm not sure I believe in an early Spring launch anymore, but I'm still a big believer in H12025.

@jenny753 People are anxious for any news at all. Retailer leaks would not go unnoticed now, where they might have for Switch.
Switch also was announced in early fall though ahead of the Spring launch. We didn’t get a lot of details before January, but we had quite a bit more official news already at that point.

@OffTheBooks Switch was a bit different though, because people were ringing Nintendo's death bell with the Wii U. So they announced a successor was coming pretty early. Here now, Switch is one of the best selling consoles ever. I think we'd be good to look at the transition from Wii to Wii U.

@jenny753 Well that was announced as “Wii U” with the tablet controller first shown at E3 2011, and didn't launch until November 2012.
If that’s the kind of timeline we’re going to see, Nintendo has a pretty bleak 18 months ahead of them.

@OffTheBooks If dummy items are getting loaded in retailer systems, they're definitely getting ready for preorders.
I can't wait.
