Hey, this is to let you know that I'm going to block fosstodon pretty soon. No exact timeline, but it'll be in January.

If you want to keep following this account/instance, I suggest you use an alt on some other instance I haven't already blocked.

@jens thank you for doing the right thing and sharing it publicly, it's a shame so many FOSS projects blindly have been choosing it as their instance

@jens Thanks for the heads-up. We're posting @RIOT_OS stuff from there, but without any strong ties to that instance (other than, well, picking it from some list initially, especially when we were half-bot due to replication from another network, which we've long since stopped).

Do you have suggestions where else a FLOSS project might set up shop?

@chrysn Not sure what this whole "fascist apologia" stuff is about, but if you're looking for an alternative instance, hachyderm.io is a good choice. I've also heard good things about infosec.exchange. I'm not sure what their policies are on new users or automated posting, so it would be good to double check that prior to registering.

@mike @jens Thanks for the pointers; we've long ceased replication from other platforms, so that's not an issue any more.

The term in the CW just follows what was in the original post, and what that is all about is something I'm just slowly gathering all the pieces for myself (might be just a moderation event with a lot of misunderstandings, might be serious; we won't move @RIOT_OS lightly).

@jens My finger is hovering over mastodon.social and c.im for the block switch, so ... no such thing as "too big to block" in my world.
