love having my icom 7100 in my car but I hate hate hate HATE that it’s only D-PRS instead of #aprs. icom really doubles down on d-star being the future.

@BenDoubleU Weak sauce! Yaesu may do some boneheaded things but at least they offer built-in APRS support on many of their HTs and mobiles. And I think Kenwood has it on all of theirs… I usually like Icom but that’s a deal breaker for me on VHF.

@croyle yea it was one of the reasons to get my ft5d (and somewhat my anytone 878…😕)
I actually really like dstar as a codec and d-mode but aside from my hotspot, there’s no d-star anything near me like there was in colorado

@croyle @BenDoubleU not me hoping these rumours of a new kenwood mobile are true. Only problem is kenwood pulled out of Australia

@vk3xe @BenDoubleU Doh! That sucks... I'm hoping that their new mobile does APRS (it should) and doesn't look as ugly as the demo model they had at the Tokyo show earlier this year. Their last actual models looked good. New demo model not so much!

@croyle @BenDoubleU oh I didn’t realise there photos. As someone still newish to the hobby I’m amazed how few aprs radios there are

@vk3xe @BenDoubleU Luckily I'm happy with the ones I have although my Kenwood mobile is crazy old these days. Still works though.... I'm sure you can find photos if you google for them. I recall them making the rounds in the Facebook Kenwood groups. Not much to see, but I do hope the layout isn't what the final radio looks like, as it looks pretty big and with a small screen, which isn't an ideal combo.
