@fireflyzero touch pad instead of a d-pad..?

That sounds honestly awful.. Steam tried it and abandoned it. Trying to play any mobile game that uses an on-screen "d-pad" is miserable. If you want precision control it's a decent thumb-stick or, at a pinch, circle-pad you need.

It's a circle pad, yes (Cirque Glidepoint). On each demo, I take 2 people, give one Xbox controller and the other Steam Controller. People prefer touchpad but it takes a minute to get used to. It's not on-screen and more tacktile that a touch screen.

The failure of Steam Controller is that it, from software perspective, mimics xbox controller. If there were games designed specifically for the controller, the experience would be different.

@fireflyzero I was meaning the circle pad as in the 3DS but a round touch-pad is intriguing!

@fireflyzero Being part of the community requires using Discord or Telegram 😐… That rules it out for everyone who reasonably disagrees with their ToS, and for everyone under 16 years for legal reasons.

Are there any plans to move the community to an open platform that allows everyone to participate?

We only have 2 people in Discord group. We've created it because every big enough community organizes a discord group (Playdate, Flipper Zero, etc), and we want it to be officially moderated.

We don't have a Telegram group. The link in the post is my direct. I also added in there my email address, you can email me as well.

We plan to center important dev discussions in bug tracker. For now, it's Github. We're looking into self-hosted alternatives as well.

Thanks for being aware of it. Firefly Zero looks very interesting for the #Teckids community of young developers (who can't join Discord or Telegram groups due to their age).

@fireflyzero This does look fun! And something I'd be happy to tinker with someday. I probably don't have time to learn a whole new programming language to make games for it though so I may end up waiting for python support.

@fireflyzero The mac binary isn't available under releases. It looks like it's trying to build for a deprecated environment.
