hey @eleventy
11ty is amazing, we’re pushing forward books as website (and printed books with paged.js)
I’m quite proud we made this:
https://livres.louvre.fr
https://livres.louvre.fr/steles-puniques-carthage/
thank you for giving us the tool to push forward.
This project is a collaboration with Agathe Baëz, @polylogue and Hervé Le Crosnier with all the helpful folks at the Louvre (starting with @CamilleSC2 )

@eleventy
we’ll write more and get some funding to explain how it works and share all the sources (we need to remove the Louvre bit first so other can use it).
We owe you big time :D

How lucky you are!
The one that keep us on tracks, making sure we always do the right thing, from metadata management to htaccess.
I wish I had such a teacher
:)

@julientaq I… what? is 11ty being used at… uh, the Louvre?

@eleventy
yes sir.
As the foundation of a publishing toolset: we make the html with eleventy, the xhtml for the epub with eleventy --and the epub with eleventy also :D--, the html for the print with eleventy (and paged.js :D)
All converted from docx / xlsx to markdown + yaml, and then a lot of customized eleventy plugins/transforms/collections system, etc.
I’ll write about it in january, it just got released today.

@eleventy
Again, all thanks to you. It was painful to make those before eleventy. Now, I don’t think i ever found a tool made so much for how i do things that this possum :D
I wish it will bring more people to look at what we offer in the open source world so they can start thinking long term.
When the money gets in i’ll put some to the pot.
Thanks again.

@julientaq what you made with @eleventy is huge for digital humanities and museums and cultural centers

I agree! We are just few interested by these questions of publishing chains (in #DigitalHumanities). Among other publications, with Roch Delannay we wrote a report just about that (not yet translated) https://zenodo.org/records/14265108, I recently wrote a chapter about the previous book of @julientaq (and co) https://hal.science/hal-04354816 (sorry in French), and I co-wrote a paper about the single source publishing principles behind these tools https://dx.doi.org/10.16995/dscn.9655
I'm interested in any resource on the subject!

Totally worth the read!
(Would even be worth learning French, but let's be honest, only love would be worth learning French :)
But automatic translators are way better than it used to be so yeah, try it out

@antoinentl I look forward to reading these publications and I hope this pipeline and project can become an open source format for #digitalhumanities

IMHO the best part is the script that builds the printed version of the 1400 steles grids ;-)
Note : the previous edition was initiated by Ernest Renan in 1867, and it was already gorgeous. Happy to welcome this great book in the XXIst century, the right way, with a 4 formats edition, and in open access.

always a good moment to remind people to support archive.org
where you can find the previous edition (which i think was even better :D).
