It’s becoming clear now why Trump was concerned that even a solid GOP Senate wouldn’t confirm some of his nominees. Next likely step: proroguing Congress so he can make recess appointments.

@oclsc It’s restricted but exists. Article II, §3: “in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper”.

@SteveBellovin @oclsc If neither house wants to adjourn, that looks to my uneducated eye like a dead letter. (That does require a handful of Republicans in each house to vote against Trump -- but as an early bellwether, Trump did not get his choice for Senate Majority Leader; it's Thune and not Scott.)
