Am I crazy to want my own instances of Lemmy, Mastodon and Peertube? Please respond and share this so I can get as much insights into self managing them.

@MichaelBishop I'm currently self-hosting my own Mastodon Server and it's a bit painful to set it up correctly and keep it running. And moderating it such as blocking spam, bots and etc. Takes a lot of time and effort but in the end, you'll have your own social media on your hands.
And I belive its worth the effort.

@batuhan @MichaelBishop Itβs ultimately the best option to run it yourself but as Batuhan said it takes some effort. Also Mastodon takes up some disk space so it will also involve some costs.

I have looked at getting a VPS account so I could run everything. Any recommendations on server specifications (RAM, CPU, storage)?

I run my own #snac instance which is a lightweight activitypub server which I'm writing this toot to you on.
Take a read of their repo here.
