Hey folks, so time for a health update. As some of you know I’ve been being treated for Oesphageal Cancer, treatment which was going pretty well, especially after surgery in July.

Unfortunately over the past weeks things seem to have gone downhill. The cancer has returned and spread to my brain and spine. My doctors have said it’s terminal and I have on average 3-6 months to live. Not the best news to be getting…

On the plus side I do have some treatment options to try and make things better. I have radiotherapy planned this week to help relieve a lot of the neurological conditions caused by swelling in my spine.

My tests also show that I should respond well to a particular form of immunotherapy that should give me more time so I’ll be starting that after the radiotherapy. I’ll be fighting this as long as I can and hoping for a miracle.

Ultimately though, it seems my time is fixed. I mean, all our time is fixed but mine is rapidly diminished now. The lucky thing is having time and knowledge to start putting affairs in order and say goodbye to people.

So yeah… tell your loved ones how much you appreciate them. Ensure you have stuff planned for if the worst may happen.

Oh, and if you have even one little medical niggle: GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR. It could be nothing, or it could save your life.

@pilky Damn Martin. There is nothing much to say. Beyond hoping the treatments extend the time you have left and that you get to do many of the things you still want to do.

@pilky I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ve respected you and your work for years. I hope you have more time left than they say, and I hope it’s all good time.

@pilky :(

You're an awesome person, glad to have met you, and wishing you all the best. I loved "co-working" with you when you were streaming Coppice development, and I love your blog posts that I got to read over time.

If the doctors are right, know that I'll remember you, and cherish those memories.

And of course, I wouldn't put it past you to prove them wrong.

@pilky That's terrible news to receive. Glad to hear that you have the immunotherapy path to hopefully give you more time. I'll be hoping for a miracle for you too.
