Toot

Written by François on 2024-11-02 at 01:48

I'm trying to puzzle out how to kill #Factorio #SpaceAge demolishers. I have a small one (30,000 hit points... small?!?, 2400 HP regenerated, per SECOND?) north of my base, and I want the tungsten ore that's there.

I was looking at the atomic bomb. I thought maybe that would be enough. But, surprise, it's too heavy for the rocket!

I'm not looking for ready-made answers. I'm documenting my journey.

Rocket turrets are gated behind #Gleba, so that's my next stop.

@francois using the family atomics on the worms eh? There’s a good time!

@francois I haven't tried nukes yet, but if I'm reading the stats right they won't work all that well. They're quite resistant to explosion damage.

@uberduck demolishers have the least resistance to poison, but we don’t have much except poison grenades. They are puny. Demolishers have 60% resistance to explosion, so I have a feeling that with enough rockets hitting simultaneously, I should be able to cross over into2400 DPS territory.

@francois perhaps. There are cheaper ways, at least for the small ones.

@uberduck @francois

I haven't even been to that planet yet, but all the trailers had me thinking you just accept the cost of their destruction as an act of god and repair in their wake to continue production. 😂

Do they stay on predefined paths? Or wander randomly in a set area?

@trashcaster @uberduck from what I’ve seen, they wander randomly inside their territory. If you build something, then they navigate towards what you built. There’s an achievement for « disturbing » one.

Repairing every few minutes seems like a chore, not fun. There’s certainly something we can do to destroy them. I’ll eventually see!

@francois @trashcaster they follow a fixed path around the perimeter of their territory, but will react to any structures built in their territory. The small ones at least have a patrol turning radius that fits within a chunk, so it's safe to build at least a chunk away from their territory. Larger ones move faster when enraged and have a larger turning radius.

@uberduck @trashcaster oh, thanks! I didn’t know that. I will take a look next time I visit Vulcanus.

@francois Atomic bombs are too heavy for the rocket.

Atomic bomb parts are not too heavy for the rocket.

5 rockets to make 1 (one) shot is an overkill though...
