So I finally finishing going through Void Stranger once, and though it was a bit frustrating at times I thought it was really enjoyable overall.

And then what I got for my trouble is an ambiguous ending and being sent back to the start to do everything all over again. No twist, just everything the same again. And I’m not sure if I’m just cranky, but this feels so disrespectful of my time that it’s soured my opinion of everything that came before.

@flooey ok but have you figured out the brands? there is kind of… a very different game the next level down

@kat I’ve looked up some spoilers at this point so I assume I know what you’re talking about, but I can’t imagine I would have figured anything out about the brands without doing so.

@flooey ok i haven’t looked stuff up so don’t tell me yet, but when i last played the game, i was engaged in figuring out the brands of all the void lords (e.g., Tail, in the service of which i took a lot of screenshots). figuring out that you can use the wand on, well, certain types of bricks you didn’t expect to be able to is also a game-changer. my next goal is to finish the game without dying… having discovered some interesting ways to warp both backward and forward

@flooey i guess i feel that it’s really not “everything the same again” once you learn that you can basically hack/cheat in several ways lol. but then there are some levels where the goal has now changed, like, now i need to get behind the chest, type thing? if nothing else there are certain… inanimate objects… i need to commune with 🤔

@flooey i could be wrong but istr the game strongly hinted the connection between the mural and the first room you can use that information in, but yeah, idk. i am also FAR more into the lore than the sokoban. and unlocking new knowledge / abilities is fascinating
