In a perfect world, what do you think the relationship should be between non-corporate Mastodon (or other Fediverse) instances and instances run by for-profit corporations?
(Boosts welcome; If your opinion is something other than what is listed, it'd be great if you could post it.)

Follow-up version of the question, which is probably more appropriate than the poll:

@dynamic What would opt-out mean here? A single opt-out switch that blocks all of the corporate instances?

@varx
Four option polls are a bitch : )

@dynamic I imagine them as something like labor unions or workers' coops in relation to businesses. Of necessity they have to be able to interact, but while carefully maintaining their independence and being very conscious that businesses will always try to subvert and co-opt them.
So maybe opt-in, but with a great deal of caution.
Of course, we could just post links, so I don't know that we need more connectivity to external networks than that.

@foolishowl
I lean more toward full disconnection, but in fairness to the pro-federation people, I'm not sure that posting links would be an adequate way of engaging in dialog with people on other platforms.
