I got a reminder today of often how infuriating it is to have a physicist try to explain mathematics. They inevitably ruin the notation, and if you ask them a "why?" question they respond with an answer to "how?" Both practical and impractical in one fell swoop.

@brettwitty But do you know how infuriating it is as a physicist when a mathematician explains mathematics to you!? I remember being at a mixed physics/maths class (90% math students though) where the teacher said "so now we know that the answer is x - x, but we still have to show that this is zero." I believe no physics students showed up anymore after that. 😂
