The 128x parallelism of a Threadripper really shines for building all the dependencies of a #Rust program. For the last crate or two and the link step, of course, it doesn't help.

I use a Firefox shortcut for docs.rs so that I can just type, for example, "d bytemuck" into the URL bar to go to the docs for bytemuck.

You don't have to feel bad about not finishing all the books you start - @doctorow does the same thing.

Reviewing Rust code is so much easier than reviewing C (the language I previously mainly worked in), because 90% of my comments on C code were related to either memory and safety issues that Rust doesn't suffer from, or to style issues that rustfmt fixes automatically.

The left Control key on my keyboard has been acting wonky for a long time. It finally starting coming off entirely yesterday. I stuck it back on but something was wrong and it kept coming back off.

Today I pulled off the right Control key to compare and it turned out that the two little wires on a clip on the keypad were supposed to fit under little retainers on the keyboard itself. I've now fixed the left Control key properly and I hope that it will give more years of service.
