The games we run on the Grenzland / Borderlands server are all on this super nice calendar.

Maybe one day my bot will be able to connect to multiple Discord servers. Then players of the Grenzland ("Borderlands") server can invite it onto their own separate servers, too. But Norn is a strange bot: It treats channels of the same name as "the same" and game dates, in-game notes and links are shared between various Discord servers and the IRC server (if any).
The idea is to keep data outside of Discord, just in case they should miss the mark one day.

I watched the first episode of Stranger Things with my wife, looked for an age recommendation, found that the US says 14, Germany says 16, and thus I’m fairly confident: this is not for me. Delete! My rule of only watching things with an age limit of 12 still holds. Back to Star Trek, for tonight! (TOS season 3 episode 11 coming up).

I don't get to play Halberts very often but I still like the idea of a Fantasy game without money. There is simply no way to obtain anything, nor is there an equipment list except for six weapons and the horse. I also like the random monster creation based on their role (inspired by the Traveller animal tables but much less sophisticated). I've been thinking about this again after reading about taxes in the medieval world.

I just overheard somebody on Discord say "Hasbro owns most of Avalon Hill's IP, including ASL." I guess Musk can kill ASL, too.
The world really does need to solve plutocracy, yikes!

Me, in 2022: “It hurts me to see that I like old school games, that is: stuff that is mechanically close to classic D&D, and plenty of people who are wrong on the Internet appear to like those games, too. The OSR being something that anybody can claim for themselves begins to be a burden on me. … I just removed my own blog from the Old School RPG Planet and the Indie RPG Planet. I’m just on the regular RPG Planet, now. And that means there’s also no point to keep using the Old School tag going forward.”

The one thing that surprises me the most in role-playing games: how almost nobody can remember the armour class of the opponent they are fighting when it's their turn to attack.

What would I write form my #introduction … hm. My first language is German, English was the third language I learned in life. And yet, my blog and my fedi presence is mostly in English. I'm a programmer and I've written a number of small apps and services for role-playing gamers. I've also written game rules. Most of them started out as condensed translation projects for my players and then they've taken a life of their own, sometimes getting an English edition, too. You can find links to all of this in the toots pinned to my profile. This account is for my English RPG activities. You can find links to other accounts in my bio. As for games, I currently play and run AD&D 1st ed., BREAK!! RPG, Mongoose Traveller 2nd ed., Classic Traveller, my own variant of B/X D&D and somebody recently asked me whether we could play a one-shot of Amber Diceless. I sometimes toot about my sessions. All my games are open tables. I do all my gaming online via Discord. If you're looking for games and you'd be interested in joining, let me know.

My wife is still on a trip with a friend of hers and what do I do on a Saturday evening? Eat Turkish foot near the train station… buy groceries… record two (very small) podcast episodes? Yes!

If you publish a PDF, such as a One Page Dungeon Contest submission, please make sure that the names of the people involved (words, art, maps, layout are clearly visible on the map, or in the PDF metadata); please make sure that a license is clearly visible. Being a copyright hard-ass, and knowing that in the case of the One Page Dungeon Contest the license this is mandatory, I would have notified the author and disqualified the entries unless that's fixed. But alas… And currently I'm trying to prepare the list of entries for the 2024 contest and getting those names right is making me sad. So much guesswork!

I still remember when we recorded that game of The Dark Eye, first edition, with The Forest of No Return (the first game I owned and the first adventure I ran for my mom and her friends).
Character creation:

I dreamt I was recording a podcast episode for @3d6DTL but then I could barely hear Matt, Ted and Mike. A good friend of mine was also visiting, made funny faces and ran around the table, making noise. Frustrated, I called for a break but instead of Pause I started a spellchecker (?), then I realized I hadn’t plugged in an external microphone, then I realized the volume was low because the sound was coming from the printer (??) and I hadn’t plugged in the headphones so I connected those to the printer (???) and then finally, mercifully, I woke up. 😳
