Milled a few test pedalboards today. Path prepared in FreeCad, which was less scary than I thought. Unfortunately the result is off by a few mm (approx bit size), still have to figure out what exactly went wrong.

I've returned to it recently after a long break and it's great and embarrassing to go back to what I've listened to since 2006!

An excellent idea to decouple where you listen to music from a record of what you are listening to!

Built a few of these strange beasts.

If you are looking for a crossfader pedal that can be controlled via expression or CV, has an envelope follower and can route signals every which way, consider All Animation 🙂‍↕️

I'm surprised how useful and fun an iPad is for making music.

Lots of creative apps: sound sources, effects, MIDI. They all interop with each other (via AUM).

The limitations of a relatively small screen and relatively large fingies inspire creative controls, so it doesn't feel or work like a conventional DAW (good thing)

That being said, I'm only using it for small sketches as backgrounds for jams or practice. Haven't actually built full tracks with an iPad yet.

Overdrive soldering workshop on December 1st in Berlin Neukölln

The circuit is based on a discreet (built out of 3 transistors) non-inverting opamp. One switch for choosing clipping diodes, another for changing the filter cap for more clang.

You get to experiment and pick the diodes and filter caps.

Works great as a boost, OD or distortion. Stacks well with other dirt. Doesn't lose low end on bass and drums ❤️

I'm hosting an intro to electronics of audio workshop in October in Berlin Neukölln! This time split into 3 days: Oct 19, 20 & 26. It's a lot of material!

We'll talk about gain and tone circuits: amplifiers, filters, mixers, splitters, clipping.

We'll do breadboarding, simulation, reading existing schematics. Each participant will design an effect from scratch by the end!

What could be some of the more environmentally-friendly ways of producing supports like these?

I'm using 3d printing and SLS currently. I wonder if there are ways to use recycled materials on a small scale (tens maybe hundreds of units).

Maybe even make it out of recycled paper/cardboard? I have no idea where to even start researching that.
