I'm sick of everything having rollover text. I can't move my cursor around the screen without some fucking rollover text coming up and blocking my view or distracting me. I only use Slack for a couple of friends but it is the worst. The Mastodon web client has started doing this. Knock it off!

Many thanks to all the Mastodon users who helped me fix my CSS issues. I'm not a CSS expert, I'm just a weekend html hack. Still a little work to go to make mobile look better.

Breaking news: grumpygamer.com static site is now live. Only problem I see is Grumpy Gamer has a monitor from the 90s. I'm going to leave it and call it charming.

Public me: You need to follow your heart. Make games that matter to you. Do what is fun for you. That is what really matters.

Private me: Why the fuck didn't I make Balatro!

Indie game devs are like indie musicians we're not special. You toil and play in seedy bars and upload youtube videos and have a 1/100000 chance of being discovered. Like being an indie game dev, you need to do it because you love the creative art of making games. Every so often a game like Balatro comes out and misleads us all.

I've decided to host my Hugo site on my own server. I need the server for other reasons, so it's not cost me anything extra. I can copy the Hugo public files to my server with rync. It takes about 2 seconds. I built it into my git push workflow, so there is no extra work on my part. It also gives me flexibility in how I host images, etc.

I'm not looking for a place to host a static site, I'm looking for a place that will host a static site AND pull it from Github when it changes.

Is Netlify a good service for hosting a static site? I'm curious because they will pull from Github when the site changes, so all I need to do to publish is push to Github. I'm looking for a place that won't grind to a halt under load.

I looked at Github pages and it won't work for me, so don't suggest that.

Or is there a way for my server to know when I pushed to github and pull and host it myself. I'd rather do that, but I haven't found a way.

Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.
