Shaky hands as we write this—barely believing this moment has come. A flood of emotions—excitement, nervousness, anxiety, and deep sorrowoverwhelms us. This war has cost us so much. Our hearts have been torn apart every single day over the past 470 days of unimaginable devastation, fear, and loss. Yet, amidst this, we are profoundly thankful to live to witness this day.

A day when people return home. A day when we will see people, hopefully, beginning to heal. A day when our children will finally shake with joy, not terror.

As members of the Parents Circle-Families Forum (PCFF), we, the bereaved Palestinians and Israelis families, will finally have the space to grieve fully for our loved ones—not in the shadow of ongoing violence, but in the fragile light of hope.

For years, we have cried out for a political agreement and nobody listened. For years, we have warned against the endless cycle of bloodshed. These past 470 days have only reaffirmed what we already know: violence will never bring safety, justice, or resolution. It only deepens wounds and perpetuates suffering.

A political agreement is not just an aspiration—it is a necessity. Only through dialogue and the courage to compromise and to see the other side as human being, only then we can begin to rebuild what has been shattered. Only peace can save our region from the abyss.

May this ceasefire be the beginning of true peace process. May we hear the laughter of children again. May we witness the healing of survivors and the rebuilding of lives. May we, as bereaved families, never have to welcome another into our circle because of war.

May we see Gaza and the Gaza envelope in Israel, live again soon. May its streets and homes echo with life, laughter and resilience.

It is time to end this nightmare of occupation. The suffering of our people must end now. The Palestinian people have waited too long for justice, for freedom, for dignity. The Israeli people have waited too long for living in security We demand the end of the occupation and the beginning of a future where Palestinians and Israelis live in peace, freedom, and justice.

The time for change is now. Peace is not a choice—it is a necessity for our survival. Let the world hear and help us to achieve our goal: Now is the time for peace

The grumpy old wizard stepped into the crowded tavern.

“Move!” he barked. There was blue light dancing between his fingers.

The crowd parted: orcs, goblins and barbarians left him a clear path to the bar.

“Let me get you the house special,” said the savvy bartender.

She presented him with a steaming mug that let off a pleasant scent. “Why don’t you sit down, take a load off?” she said.

Two regulars hastily left a table and the wizard sat down and tentatively tasted the drink.

“Did you give him extra strong ale?” asked a goblin.

“No, I reckon he’d be a mean drunk. Just a mild sedative. The #spice masks the taste.”

The wizard was leaning back on his chair, gently snoring, with a rare smile.

[#]Proton: The democrats have failed on anti-trust legislation due to corporate influence. The republicans might actually do better tackling big tech abuses.

Some people (screaming): You're supporting fascism and genocide and oppressing queers and killing immigrants! I'm cancelling you!

No, this isn't 'supporting Trump'.

Yes, I am rolling my eyes. 🙄

The old wizard was grumpy and in poor health. But the water had to be given, not taken. So he called out to the villagers.

“Give me water from the fountain of youth. If you don’t, I will #steal the smiles from your children’s faces, the patience from their parents, the wisdom from your elders, and the courage from your warriors.”

Horrified looks surrounded him. A young man filled a water skin from the fountain and gave it to the wizard.

“Drink and wait until morning.”

The wizard nodded curtly and drank deeply. In the morning he woke up, still old and ill. He stepped out to the village square, and was greeted by the same man.

“The water has to be given freely, not coerced. Try again next year.”

“This will protect you!”

The ranger uncovered a gleaming chain mail shirt and handed it to me. It was lighter than I expected. It fit well.

“Is it... Mithril?” I asked in wonder, walking around to see how it felt.

“Indeed it is. Mined in the ancient lands of--”

The clanging of nails from the box I had knocked over interrupted him.

“Oops, sorry!”

I noticed several nails had stuck to my chain mail.

“Oh! is mithril magnetic?!” I asked.

The ranger sighed. “No, but this is an #alloy. 90% iron and 10% mithril. It’s the only way we could afford good armour for the whole party.”

I looked around. The ranger, the rogue, and even the wizard had opened their cloaks to show me they all had similar chain mail to mine.

“Can I #borrow some thyme?” It was the new neighbour.

“Sure... let me check my spice rack.”

“No, not the herb. Time. An hour should do.”

“You need my help for an hour?” I asked, puzzled.

“No, I just need an hour. Look, are you busy this evening?”

“Not really.”

“So let me take an hour. I’ll return it. What day are you really busy?”

“Well, I have a big meeting tomorrow. But was does that--”

“Tomorrow it is. Thank you,” he left quickly.

OK, weird neighbour. I glanced at the kitchen clock. 9:15, how could that be? It had just gone 8 when he knocked. Had I dozed off?

I spent the morning busily preparing for the meeting. I was all set when the boss came in and asked me to prepare something else.

“You must be joking! The meeting is in 20 minutes!”

“No, it’s in an hour and 20 minutes, at 12 noon. Good news, it looks like you gained an hour!”

My dog pulled on her lead excitedly. She was leaning low over her outstretched forepaws, wagging her tail, showing she wanted to play.

“Ruby, what is it?”

I looked ahead and saw a #fox boldly sitting by a whole in a hedgerow. Its bright coat made Ruby’s reddish brown fur look dull in comparison.

The urban foxes round here were used to people, but they were usually afraid of dogs. It moved on, leaving its scent on a tree before turning a corner. A male, then. He seemed to be teasing Ruby. Was cross-species canine love a thing?

As we turned the corner, the fox nonchalantly walk passed us.

“Good evening, Mr Fox!” I said.

“Good evening,” it replied.

It was certainly an unexpected date. And he did look nice in shorts and a waterproof jacket. He was staring through the huge camera lens. Now that the sea was calm enough for photos, he seized the moment. I settled for binoculars.

The sandstone #cliff opposite which we were moored was full of black and white birds. Mostly guillemots, some razorbills, he explained. I was a nature lover in spirit, but didn’t get out much.

The waves picked up again and he turned away from the camera and back to me. “So, are you enjoying this?”

“It’s a beautiful spot, thank you! A shame you can’t get close-up photos, though.”

“Well, actually...” He opened up a metal box and pulled out a small drone.

“Isn’t that cheating?” I laughed.

This morning I went to get spruced up! No painful resizing, thankfully, just a polish. It’s important to look one’s best on special occasions, and I sensed one coming up.

I’ve been in the family for seven generations, and only once refused. Personality matters, of course, but the right engagement ring can make or break the deal. That's me, shiny with a sparkling gem.

This is the first time a woman has taken me out with such purpose, though. After cleaning, she took me to see a man. Oh, that's a #disappointment. She's not putting me on his finger. He's just eyeing me up closely.

Oh dear. I’m being pawned.

I turned the key and entered the flat. A fresh start for the new year: new job in a new city. Lots to unpack.

My tablet chirped and displayed a message.

“Welcome to Grandopolis! Here is your city starter pack, based on your profile. Select any item for details.

“Here are five friends, at least two are guaranteed to be non-virtual persons.

“Here is your local. The staff know your favourite beer.

“Here is a short list of potential love interests.

“And finally, you’ve been assigned one snarky ex, with whom you will have occasional awkward encounters.

“Enjoy your new home.”

Apple and Cherry were delighted that they were moving into Grandad’s old house. It had fun things like the old leather armchair and a grandfather clock. And of course, the big back yard.

Dad told them to be careful. There were #broken things that needed fixing, like the banister on the landing. “No climbing!”

“The mirror in the basement is broken! Isn’t that bad luck?” Cherry asked.

Dad went down to inspect. The mirror was fine, but the wooden frame was coming apart.

The children watched him as he glued it back together.

“Seven years good luck for you!” Apple declared.

‘We’re going to sell Grandad’s old house,’ Dad said.

‘No! It’s so much fun there!’ Cherry complained.

‘And Mum grew up there!’ Apple chimed in.

‘We don’t need another house. And where we live is more practical,’ Dad explained.

‘But there’s #less room to play here! Grandad’s house has a big backyard.’ Cherry insisted.

‘There’s also the magic woods out beyond the yard,’ Apple added.

‘Apple, don’t put ideas in your sister’s head. There’s no magic woods,’ Dad said sternly.

‘Well, actually...’ Mum’s eyes lit up.
