But naive developers, especially younger ones, may not know that they can be held personally liable in a legal context especially at most of the large corporations doing the work you’re describing and the federal involvement makes it a holy shit level big deal instead of a normal job loss risk.
The race condition could be interpreted as a security flaw and your exit would likely not be a simple HR dismissal.

I assume you’ve never worked in security but you can be held personally liable if you willfully introduce vulnerabilities, this is considered an insider threat.
It is bad advice that could land people in prison.
Objection is fine, slowly pushing back also of course, but do not fuck around with sabotage especially if your employer is a federal contractor because you will get found and you will not have the same life afterward.

Spreading the latest horrible news piece that doesn’t materially affect you only gives it power.
The addictive nature of “look how awful this is” is making you sick in invisible ways. It spreads like a virus, don’t become a host for it willingly.
You can’t do that by going into a room of other infected people and screaming at the top of your lungs how much everything sucks or how unbelievable the latest bad thing is.
Make the change in real life, make art, love your family.

Disengage from the noise and learn to live with the fact that some people and policies suck and you have virtually no control over it.
