Die Brandmauer-Kundgebung heute war sensorisch eine Überlastung nach der Woche, die ich hinter mir habe. Aber ich glaube es hat mir diesmal auch gut getan. Es bleibt das Gefühl zurück mit den eigenen Sorgen nicht alleine zu sein. Ich fühle mich jetzt wieder etwas zuversichtlicher.

Argh, my coworker said, that he is almost healthy again after having a cold so I don't have to cover for him today. This means that he is coming back to work and that I have to sit next to him in a meeting for 1 or 2 hours today. I tried to talk him out of it, but now he is not responding anymore. I don't want to get sick with whatever he has. 🙄

This is a picture of the Philodendron melanochrysum in the Botanical Garden in Innsbruck that I took last summer.
A picture of this specific plant was what got me interested in it's species in the first place. Hence I was very exited to visit it.

The house we rent has this ugly, broken text on the wall over the stairs. We are now living here for little over a year and I have abandoned the idea of eventually painting this stairwell. (It's not worth the effort and we won't live here forever.) I would like to hang a large cloth over it. I have a pretty one in my childhood bedroom in my parent's house that might be wide enough. It's almost quadratic, so it's large in both dimensions.
Any ideas on how I could approach this? If I have a company come to erect scaffolding, I might as well have the stairwell painted. It's okay if the solution cost something, but I don't want to pay a fortune on this.
For context: If I stand on the stairs, I can reach up enough to touch the last line of the text with my hand.

Ich habe gerade den beiden Bundestagsabgeordneten aus meinem Wahlkreis jeweils eine Mail bezüglich des Antrags für ein AfD-Verbotsverfahren geschrieben. Bei der Abgeordneten, die den Antrag mit auf den Weg gebracht hat, habe ich mich bedankt. Die Abgeordnete, die nicht auf dem Antrag steht, habe ich aufgefordert den Antrag zu unterstützten. Falls ihr die Zeit findet, macht das bitte auch. Jede Stimme im Bundestag kann in der Sache einen Unterschied machen und die Zeit vor der Bundestagswahl ist knapp. Es kann sein, dass es danach keine Chance mehr auf ein AfD-Verbot gibt, weil die Mehrheitsverhältnisse es nicht mehr hergeben das Verfahren anzustoßen.

Some people are currently making an effort to move away from Meta including WhatsApp. If you also have this one person in your family that you cannot convince to use another messenger, consider to turn off the permission that allows WhatsApp to access your contacts. This way you can still use WhatsApp to stay in contact with this one person without sharing your entire contact list on your phone including all the data that belongs to your contacts (and that you should no be sharing with Meta, because it's not yours to share). It's not an ideal solution, but it's better than nothing.

It's always weird (in a bad, but also in a funny way), when native English speakers want to insult me on Mastodon and they call me something that I don't understand. This is often when people start to use slang that is not part of my vocabulary. So I have to search for the word online and figure out how exactly they are trying to insult me. (I want to know what I block people for.)

I don't like it when people take screenshots from bad conversations or bad posts they saw on Facebook/Instagram/X and share them here. I believe they do this to show how bad it is over there, but by doing this they are caring this stuff to the Fediverse. I came here, because I don't want to be part of any of those social networks. Ich habe mich erfolgreich durchgesetzt, dass ich nächstes Semester wahrscheinlich nicht wieder regelmäßig um 8 Uhr eine Veranstaltungen halten muss. :neofox_cool_fingerguns:
Ich war eigentlich für 16 bis 18 Uhr, weil es für den Slot gar keine möglichen Überschneidungen für die Studis und noch massig tolle Räume gibt. Da war mein Kollege, mit dem ich die Veranstaltungen abwechselnd halte, aber dagegen, weil er normalerweise schon um 17 Uhr Schluss machen möchten. Er meine, das fände er unzumutbar. Aber ich soll regelmäßig um 8 Uhr eine Veranstaltungen halten, obwohl ich normalerweise erst ab 10 Uhr arbeite und es wäre nicht unzumutbar, dass ich dann den ganzen Tag übermüded und reizüberflutet bin. 🤦♂️
Jetzt versuchen wir jedenfalls einen Raum für 10 Uhr zu bekommen. Drückt mir die Daumen! Räume sind knapp auf diesem Campus.
Frühaufsteher*innen sehen sich meistens so unfassbar im Recht damit anderen ihre Zeiten aufzuzwängen. Wenn ich es nicht so sehr gewohnt wäre, fände ich es unfassbar. 😲

One thing that annoys me are the five or so bottles of hard liquor sitting on the top shelf in our kitchen cabinet. I don't drink alcohol. My partner only consumes small amounts of alcohol and he only does so in the company of people with whom he can drink alcohol together. Every second year or so someone gifts him a bottle of expensive whisky or gin or something like this. We really don't costume this much alcohol in this household. Hence it's accumulating. Unfortunately I don't think that there is a responsible way to give this stuff away.
