Hello academics of Mastodon, I have a question for y'all: how much do you pay your undergraduate researchers?
I want to pay the undergraduate researchers I work with a fair wage for the work they do, but I haven't worked with undergrads before, and there aren't a lot of examples of researchers paying undergrads for their work. I'm currently thinking I'd pay an hourly wage somewhere between $25-30/hr for 10 hrs of work per week over the course of the semester, plus some form of overtime the week before the paper deadline. What do people think?

My name is Micah, you can also call me Mick. I'm a PhD student at UC Berkeley, and I'm currently working at the intersection of distributed systems and networking. I also have broad interests in operating systems, embedded systems, and security. Outside of research, I enjoy learning about urbanism, playing violin, and being involved in my local union.
