Problem with having gotten used to MATE Desktop's pop-up HUD is, now that I'm doing something in Windows, I have to actually look through the menus of whatever app I'm using. >_>

(Also, did I read this right? You can install MinGW in Linux to cross-compile to Windows? Why am I even bothering to set up a dev environment in Windows, then??)

Need to find myself a reasonably-priced laptop that's Linux-compatible, has a decently sized screen, and is powerful enough to be able to develop and test Enigma Heart on

Welp, guess I have eight months to find a good N95-or-better mask that fits my giant head, and doesn't fog up my glasses.

I go almost nowhere, so my cloth mask and staying vaxxed has been sufficient for me, and I've never gotten covid.

But I wanna go to QGCon in September, because it looks really awesome.

Granted, it's a small sample size (21 people), but the support for doing Enigma Heart as early access isn't even close.

It'd be clearly marked as in-development both in-game and on the store page, and I'd aim to make updates fairly regularly.

As far as getting the attention of YouTubers goes, I think it might behoove me to get a demo ready this month, too, so I have more to offer than some 👉 👈 emoji and the promise of a game to come "sometime in the future."

But then, if any of them do get excited about it and want to play the demo on channel, is that a good thing or a bad thing? All that potential visibility used up when the full game's not even available for sale yet.

Goal for January: get the hype train going for Enigma Heart. I'm not going to make my initial March launch target at this point, but that's okay. Next best thing will be to launch the Steam and itch.io pages, cut a trailer or two, get a wishlist campaign going, try to get the attention of some YouTubers who might be into a Zelda II-like, and just in general try to start generating some buzz.

Now that Acronia is going to be for modern systems like Enigma Heart, I feel obligated to come up with a game that I actually can make for DOS, to fulfill my promise to the DOS community

It's gonna have to be single-screen, because the big thing that killed Acronia was my inability to make smooth scrolling any more efficient than what I ended up with. I just ain't that talented.

Either that or I'll need to accept that it won't run smoothly on anything less than a Pentium.
