I don't think I have ever had cleaner hands in my life. No shit. They feel different.

So this happened tonight.
NP bought a keyboard off eBay. Something, some inexplicable energetic thing, was off about it when it arrived. They tried cleansing it several times with several methods. No luck. Today, they asked me if I felt anything weird after touching it. I had, but it was very hard to pin down. It didn’t feel malevolent or malignant, but something about the energy surrounding it was vaguely sticky and creepy, to the point that I wiped my hand on my pants.
“It’s like something’s been there for a long time,” I tried to explain, “and it kinda clings to your skin. Kinda like a spiderweb.”
A few minutes later, NP goes to pull out the switches. Lo and fucking behold, there is a dead spider and a piece of web in there.
I offered my spoon, (I indeed have a magic spoon,) so they could bury the spider outside. We said a few words. The weird energetic something, (web)? After over a week of clinging to the keyboard, immediately puffed away.
We washed our hands and the spoon thoroughly, and with spritzes of moon water after the initial wash. We were instructed not to dry our hands.
So now NP is telling all their witchy friends about the solving of the mystery of the spider-haunted keyboard. R.I.P. little critter.

Hi, Fedi. If you love cats, I have a couple of questions.
My partner, Glild, lost her sweet, 14-year-old kitty a few weeks ago. As you might think, she is very not ok.
We’ve talked about it, and it would be an immense comfort to her to have a physical, stuffed animal representation of her cat. For various reasons, purely visual art is not going to work. She is also not ready to bring another live cat into the mix.
I know there are services that make these. You send over photos and they custom make a stuffed animal version of the pet. I’m looking for word-of-mouth recommendations, as I trust these a bit more than Google at the moment. Here are my questions.
Tl;Dr: Cat replica stuffies? Recs? Boosts absolutely appreciated! Thanks.

I’ve been listening to 3 Pagans And a Cat. It’s a podcast in which a couple of long-time practitioners discuss various topics within and around Paganism.
They have an episode, (227), full of book recommendations, and also anti-recommendations for problematic authors and content. They have an episode all about developing discernment (229). They research and talk about subjects all over the magical map in a way that sounds very approachable and level-headed. It’s a resource I’ve been searching for for a while, and found completely by happenstance.
It’s an interesting and occasionally humorous listen. The hosts, Ode and Gwyn, are a practicing Heathen and their Green, Hekataen witch mother, and you can hear where they share perspectives and where their views diverge. My only solid complaint so far is that I don’t get to hear much from the cat. Anyone else listen to them?

One annoying aspect of being newer to things is the fact that there's no not-awkward way of saying "So hey, is this well-spoken presenter/author I just found secretly a NaziTerf who loves cultural appropriation and shouldn't be around kids?"

Currently reading The Modern Guide to Witchcraft.
Not a fan of the raw-ass ableism the author spills when discussing the "sixth" sense. I'm not quoting it directly, but there is some lamenting of how sad and diminished someone’s world is if they lack one of the five recognized physical senses.
First off, nah fam. My sensory experience is just as rich, fulfilling and nourishing as yours is. I just navigate spaces differently.
Second, I consider the five senses myth to be, well, a myth, because humans have more than five. The exact number is in question and debated far above my pay grade, but some additional examples are:
Proprioception (Space)
Chronoception (Time, and yes, time-blindness is a thing.)
Equilibrioception (Balance)
Interoception (You’re hungry, thirsty, or heading for the restroom.)
And that’s not even counting synesthesias, intuition, energetic awarenesses, or other under-represented sensory experiences.
So yes, book, you are incorrect about folks living along varying perceptual vantagepoints, and that sixth sense you want to educate me on is probably the tenth through the thirteenth.
Here are a couple of articles about how varied and interesting human perception is.

“My body is enough and magnificent and disabled all at the same time. I declare this body honored, beloved, whole, sacred. I declare this body worthy of care and attention and rest and joy and all emotions. I carry this power with me always, from this day forward, past, present, and future.” – Kandi Zeller #DisabledWitchcraft #FediOccultBookClub

“I am magick. I transform spaces of exclusion by my very presence as a disabled person. I claim the aspects of the craft that will lead to the inclusion of all of me and all other marginalized voices. I reject those parts of the craft that are based on ableist, sexist, racist, classist, homophobic, transphobic, or capitalist assumptions. I will transform the craft like all who have gone before and all who will come after. I enter this conversation. I take up space. This is my power.” – Kandi Zeller #DisabledWitchcraft #FediOccultBookClub

“Connection to the earth is not a privilege for the non-disabled few. It’s the birthright of all humans—indeed all living things—upon this wonderful, stardusty planet.” – Kandi Zeller

Zeller gets straight to the point with this book. You don’t get hand-held about what disability is, what ableism is, or what witchcraft is. She’s writing to an audience that’s already familiar with the basics through lived experience. As for non-disabled and/or non-Crafty folk, I read an underlying assumption of competence along the line of, “If you don’t know what this thing means, I think you can figure it out.” I like this a lot, because it’s a pleasant opposite of many real-world experiences of disability in which the assumption toward a disabled person is that they are not competent.

I read Disabled Witchcraft by Kandi Zeller for the #FediOccultBookClub. As a starter in The Craft who happens to be blind, there was no question that this read was going to happen this year.
If there are other Crafty books that center disability as the practitioner perspective, I’m always up for recs.

Huge thanks to @khthoniaa for starting the #FediOccultBookClub. I’ve read two amazing and impactful books, and now I basically have a starter witch TBR list from the poll options.
Thanks for making a difference for a random someone on the interwebs and just generally being cool.

“I often say that I am not a love and light witch, but that’s not entirely true. Love means fighting for those we care about and against those who would harm us. Light means embracing darkness too and learning how to use that to our advantage instead of running away from it.” – Cassandra Snow

I get a bit skin-crawly whenever ancestor work comes up in my research because the kindest thing I’d say to my direct ancestors would be “Fuck you. Y’all beat your kids. Get the fuck away from me.”
I’m very familiar with chosen family, but #QueeringYourCraft just taught me about chosen ancestors. I’m heartened by the concept, and that there are new possibilities of affirming spiritual connection to explore. #FediOccultBookClub

“The Moon is often referred to and revered as the Divine Feminine, with the Sun as the Divine Masculine. As queer people, it’s up to the individual whether you subscribe to this or not. I will often work with this and then decide that if this is true, the Earth must be non- binary.”
Ha! Brilliant.

“Queering magick is necessary because as queer people we have a right to the same power everyone has the potential for and a responsibility to make change in this world. Queering magick is vital because you, beautiful, precious, darling you, deserve all of the joy and healing available, which is so much! Queering magick is critical because as we’ve seen over and over again, the system will not protect or nurture us—so we need to have as many tools as possible in our toolbox to protect and nurture ourselves.” – Cassandra Snow

“In a politically difficult and tense world, witchcraft is a secret weapon. It is catharsis, first— something that helps us purge our emotions and heal. Then it’s about autonomy and taking control of our lives. From there, it’s about power. It’s about the power to create outcomes and wield change. It’s about the power to love this world enough to want to make it better. And, it’s about the power it takes to make that happen.” – Cassandra Snow

Reclaiming is the cool lesbian hippie aunt who grows her own veggies, throws the best summer solstice parties, can chant melodically in Scots Gaelic, and knows how to bake delightfully enhanced baked goods. Typical cis men don’t like her much, and keep their distance after what she may or may not have done to Catcaller Calvin.
Solarpunk witchcraft is the 24-year-old cousin who co-runs an art therapy program for at-risk youth, just got their 12th tattoo, and lives with their three partners, two cats, and one Argentine tegu. They would respond to your text but they’re probably out protesting right now. The mayor doesn’t like them much. They regularly fight him on sustainable alternatives to energy monopolies and practical ways to house the unhoused. They also regularly win.
