I do wonder whether solarpunk witchcraft is, or could be, a sort of budding offspring of the Reclaiming tradition. Common threads of activism and environmental consciousness are present, and the spiritual values of both paths seem well within alignment. Also, Norton-Kertson did bring up The Spiral Dance as a formative read for them a couple of times.

Reclaiming is the cool lesbian hippie aunt who grows her own veggies, throws the best summer solstice parties, can chant melodically in Scots Gaelic, and knows how to bake delightfully enhanced baked goods. Typical cis men don’t like her much, and keep their distance after what she may or may not have done to Catcaller Calvin.

Solarpunk witchcraft is the 24-year-old cousin who co-runs an art therapy program for at-risk youth, just got their 12th tattoo, and lives with their three partners, two cats, and one Argentine tegu. They would respond to your text but they’re probably out protesting right now. The mayor doesn’t like them much. They regularly fight him on sustainable alternatives to energy monopolies and practical ways to house the unhoused. They also regularly win.
