A question to my US friends: Bezos donates $1M for Trump's inauguration and start talking honey & butter about the new inhabitant of the WH. The same with the YouTube bosses (+ no more censorship). I do not see you canceling your Prime subscriptions or renouncing the Tube? Why?

OK … #Xcode 16.2 and the AI completion is a … wow … for well known patterns. For my current work on the new POLIS standard and some astronomy image processing the AI contribution is very minor or even hindering.

I am invited to give a #Swift related talk at a conference. I was fermenting my thoughts for almost a week until I remembered an old robotic observatory software package of us. We managed to be a year ahead of even a CalTech project because at the time we used something I called Messaging Design Pattern. It seams still no one is using this simple idea. That will be my talk, and there will be a Swift implementation in my SoftwareEtudes framework (open source of course).

I was listening to an old #oxide podcast about #Rust and our individual perception of beauty related to computer languages.

Well, my personal beautiful languages are #modula2 and #objective_c. #Swift was about to classify as such, but took a wrong turn and followed the rocky path of C++ 😒

The hardest thing working on a new #Astronomy open source standard is to make both professional and amateur astronomers to agree. And from the feedback I am getting, it seams that amateurs might be way more knowledgeable about making real observations.

Today I was asked again (N-th time) to explain #SwiftNIO

My reaction: create a Git repository called swiftnio-book

My hope was that either @twostraws or @dimsumthinking will create such repo before me. Well, I still hope, and would gladly do rm -rf swiftnio-book if they do.

It seams that Biden and the Democrats are willing to start a nuclear war in order just to make the peace plans of the next administration more difficult! And they have the guts to call other-thinkers and other-voters fascists! Their vassals in Europe (UK, France, perhaps soon - Germany) are happily following their lead.

I thought we reached the bottom of the human swamp in 1938 in brownish Nürnberg!

I had a ton of code written for OpenCL. Obviously I need to move it now to Metal, but Metal is a huge multi-headed monster and I probably do not need 95% of the stuff there.

Q: Is there a Metal - - guide, book, or package that can help me focus on the maths and ignore the graphics?

I am using #swift 5.9. (still)

P.S. I was very sad to see OpenCL gone…

Rewriting one of the of our SpaceJunk-calculating routines from #Python to #Swift:

Besides wasted CPU time, how much electric energy is wasted by using Python in science?

But Elon is evil, because he has “strange” political views.

One thing I dislike in our western culture is that we value (political) views more than deeds.

Oh, did I mention that without Elon, US will be #3 in space behind China and Russia? And who kicked the global EV industry?

In Bulgaria we have a saying: deeds make a person’s soul beautiful.

Anyone knows any visually impaired astronomers (or amateurs) who will be interested to test our #astronomy apps for #Accessibility ?

If I was running for a VP or any other electable position for me the best part would be that I can do my best for my people, for my country.

Perhaps that’s why I am not a politician…
