i came across tests that are generated and run using a makefile.
to me this seems very straightforward compared to generate tests or testfiles using a build.rs or a macro.
how do you run generated tests?

[#]NixOS is holding an election.

I personally cannot imagine standing as a candidate - wouldn't be elected anyway. But I have seen before people participating in the governance discussion that seem to be capable. I hope some of them still run for a post.

Currently, #NixOS is holding an election.
https://github.com/NixOS/SC-election-2024
The response was not very active. It seems it didn't spark much interest. I think the problem is that previous discussions demotivated various people involved in #nix to leave the project. Many of those are still eligible to vote and to stand as a candidate.

~~maybe i should have used condescending and not paternalistic in the previous toots.~~ now i think paternalistic is right, but I am still not sure.

A reaction that repeats the tone of the initial fork-off-blog-post that suggest "C developers should fork a C only Linux" will not happen, because of the power imbalance between the two groups.
I am wondering what a appropriate, but resolute, reaction to such an "friendly", but paternalistic, writing is.

@drewdevault wrote a blog that rust developers should give up on rust-in-linux https://drewdevault.com/2024/08/30/2024-08-30-Rust-in-Linux-revisited.html he got negative reactions, that target him personally, which he posted here: https://hachyderm.io/@drewdevault@fosstodon.org/113055940248374740
But a paternalistic blog post is never friendly. He wrote a straight forward "fork off". So he should not be surprised that people disregard his opinion and his way of expressing opinions. Sure one could express disagreement more.
