I stumbled upon a neat little trick for adjusting the iron in my router planer. Slip a playing card under the plane, drop the iron into the groove, and tighten. Use a piece of paper for that final shaving.

Slowly moving ahead with the frame project. Pics: the basic assembly set up; a frame in strap clamps - the plywood template is the size of the paintings; clamping on slats to attach the painting to the frame; and a stand with frames in various stages.
They're finished with two coats of iron acetate stain and two coats of water poly mixed 2 parts poly 1 part water.
Two challenges. 1) having issues with a rotator cuff 2) shop is so small, can't do anything else!

Blades came in. Bow saw finished.
Clearly going to take a bit of time to get used to it!
Question: Why the long handled knobs for the blade holder? I've never seen anyone use them while sawing.

Bow saw progress. Waiting for the blades to arrive from Highland Woodworking. Ordered the 600mm rip / joinery 9 tpi and scroll 9 tpi along with the 700mm rip blade 5 tpi which I'll cut down. Thinking of using the cut off for a kerf plane.
Cheap construction lumber because I don't know what I'm doing and do want to waste good stuff! I carefully selected two pieces with good straight grain and then proceeded to lay out on the wrong face...

I got Chris Schwarz's American Peasant book and now I'm hooked on the idea of his gelatin glue.
I'm fishing for case studies and user experience. I know someone here on the #woodworking tag was using it but can't remember whom it was.
Any feedback on the gelatin glue or hide glue in general will be greatly appreciated!

Made a small cam clamp inspired by the small Japanese bar clamps. I think it's a winner for the small projects but still getting used to it.
I've been meaning to do this for a while because I figured out how to draw a cam with the proper geometry (and not just a circle with an offset center). I've included images of two proper cams each with a different throw.

Plunging ahead making a frame saw from scratch. Ignoring the advise of @frew and making the handles with extensions from scratch - a kerf and peg will capture the blade. At $18 for the hardware, these handles give me an hourly rate of about $9. And I'm not done! 😜

Made a new nesting saw horse out of some 2x8 scraps. It's the same height as the ones I made last year. I wasn't using them much because they're so light. Hoping to use this one as a saw bench with the old ones as outfeeds.

I got impatient (and I really dislike Amazon). After watching a couple of youtubes, spent the day building a strap clamp, actually a string clamp, for the block box I'm making. The all thread is 3/8" Acme rod left over from my bar clamps. String is paracord. Ended the day in glue up and diagonals were equal without any fussing! A win!
Here's the youtube I found most useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwQC2iq5nmo
